Arranta Bio, a contract manufacturer formed in 2019 to help companies produce microbiome-based therapies, has signed a new lease for 126,914 square feet to expand its manufacturing capacity in Lincoln Properties’ flex/R&D building located at 1414 Massachusetts Ave. in Boxborough, Massachusetts.

The company said the newly leased space in Boxborough will complement its existing facilities in Watertown, Massachusetts, and Gainesville, Florida, bringing its total manufacturing capacity to more than 230,000 square feet. Arranta plans to build out its new location in phases and expects to make a total investment in the new facility of more than $150 million and employ over 250 employees.

The two-level building at 1414 Massachusetts Ave. measures 292,513 square feet and previously served as the East Coast research-and-development headquarters for global networking equipment firm Cisco Systems. It was originally built in 1987 and most recently renovated in 2011.

Lincoln purchased the vacant facility from Cisco in August 2017 after the tech firm consolidated its operations in another facility on Beaver Brook Road. Vibalogics, a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization based in Germany, leased 118,000 square feet in the building last year.

Chris Devaux, Tim Latham and James Tambone of LPC represented the landlord in this transaction.
